You may have noticed from the media or watched the advert but John Lewis is 150 years old this year. We regularly find ourselves using the company’s products in our interior design schemes. The range of products is varied, from the House by John Lewis range to designers such as Orla Kiely, Harlequin, Bluebell Gray and Timorous Beasties, quality is excellent and products are good value. To mark the anniversary, John Lewis are collaborating with long standing suppliers to create exclusive designs and are reviving prints from their archive to create new products. We have taken a look and here are just a few of our favourites.

We are huge fans of Ercol and this studio couch designed in 1946 is a classic design that will never go out of fashion. It was the first sofa that was specifically designed to be used as a day bed allowing users to lie horizontally. The Cummersdale print in silver will suit most schemes.

Lloyd Loom are another iconic UK company and this conservatory chair is ideal for a conservatory or as an easy chair in a living room or bedroom. This design has a padded seat and its soft blue colour makes it adaptable to being combined with lots of different colours.

We love accessories and in particular cushions. This print is from the studios of Raymond Loewy, a revolutionary industrial designer who created everything from fridges to cars to spacecrafts. The abstract block design, overprinted with a depiction of leaves, birds and butterflies picks up on the current trend for themes inspired by nature. We think it’s great fun and a bit quirky.

Although originally designed in the 1930’s for use in industrial spaces such as factories and offices, this Zoe lamp from Davey Lighting is perfect for today. We would use it in kitchen or over a dining table either singly or in a row of three depending on the situation.

Finally, most of us are familiar with iconic cookware brand Le Creuset but we simply can’t resist this limited edition Coquelle casserole dish in Volcanic. We love the shape and the colour although the dish also comes in Teal blue. Made from cast iron it is suitable for all hob types including induction.
